How To Setup Ivacy VPN on Windows Vista Manually
 

Before you begin, please make sure that:

  • You have a working internet connection
  • A Premium Ivacy VPN account. If you haven’t subscribed yet, click here to subscribe for Ivacy VPN

You can select the respective tab for the desired protocol.

  1. Click on the Start button and click “Connect To”.vpn-on-windows-vista-1
  2. Set up a new connection by clicking on “Set up a connection or network”.vpn-on-windows-vista-2
  3. Then “Connect to a workplace” by selecting it and clicking “Next”.vpn-on-windows-vista-3
  4. Connect using “Internet connection (VPN)”.vpn-on-windows-vista-4
  5. Select “I’ll set up an Internet connection later”.vpn-on-windows-vista-5
  6. In the “Internet address” field, type or paste your desired server name (the list of all server addresses can be found here).
    In the “Destination name” field, you can type any name like ‘Ivacy PPTP’.
    Leave the option “Use a smart card”
    Allow others to use this connection if you want other users to use it, otherwise leave it unchecked.

  8. Now enter your ‘username’ and ‘password’ (the email address and the password are the same that you chose at the time of order placement). Check “Remember this password”. Now click on “Create”.vpn-on-windows-vista-7

  10. In “Connect to a network” window, right mouse click on Ivacy connection and click on “Properties”.pptp-on-windows-vista-3
  11. Now select the “Networking” tab and Select ‘PPTP VPN’ from “Type of VPN” dropdown menu.pptp-on-windows-vista-4
  12. Remove checks from ‘Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)’ and ‘File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks’. Hit “OK”.pptp-on-windows-vista-5
  13. Now connect to the newly established connection.pptp-on-windows-vista-7
  14. In the new window, click on “Public location”, hit “Close” and enjoy Privacy with Ivacy.pptp-on-windows-vista-10

  10. In “Connect to a network” window, right mouse click on Ivacy connection and click on “Properties”.l2tp-on-windows-vista-3
  11. Now select the “Networking” tab and Select ‘L2TP IPSec VPN’ from “Type of VPN” dropdown menu.l2tp-on-windows-vista-4
  12. Now click on the button “IPSec Settings”. In the new window, check the message “Use Pre-shared key for authentication” and enter ‘12345678’ in the “Key” field. Click “OK”.l2tp-on-windows-vista-5
  13. Remove checks from ‘Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)’ and ‘File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks’. Hit “OK”.l2tp-on-windows-vista-6
  14. Now connect to the newly established connection.l2tp-on-windows-vista-8
  15. In the new window, click on Public location, hit “Close” and enjoy Privacy with Ivacy.l2tp-on-windows-vista-11
  1. Go to ‘Network’ icon on the taskbar and right click on it. Hit ‘Network and Sharing Center’ option.Windows Vista Desktop
  2. A new window will open up. On the left-hand side, locate ‘Set up a connection or a network’ option and click on it.Network and Sharing Settings Vista
  3. From ‘Choose a connection option’ window select ‘Connect to a workplace’ option. Click ‘Next’.

  4. Select ‘Use my internet connection (VPN)’ from the ‘How do you want to connect’? window.

  5. Select ‘I’ll set up an Internet connection later’ from the ‘Connect to a workplace’ window.

  6. Type server address (list of servers), for instance ‘usla1.dns2use.com’, in the ‘Internet address’ field. Type connection name, for instance ‘Ivacy SSTP’, in the ‘Destination name’ field. Check the ‘Don’t connect now, just setup so I can connect later’ checkbox. Keep the other two options unchecked. Click ‘Next’.Ivacy VPN Connection on Vista
  7. Type your ‘Username/Email’ and ‘Password’ (the email address and the password are the same that you chose at the time of order placement) in the respective fields. Check the ‘Remember this password’ checkbox. Hit ‘Create’.Ivacy VPN Connection on Vista
  8. A new window will open up. Click ‘Close’.

  9. Return to ‘Network and Sharing Center’. Click on ‘Manage network connections’ on the left-hand side.Network and Sharing Settings Vista
  10. Right click on newly created ‘Ivacy SSTP VPN’ icon. Go to ‘Properties’.Network Connection Windows Vista
  11. Go to ‘Networking’ tab. Select ‘Secure Socket Tunneling Protocol (SSTP)’ from the ‘Type of VPN’ dropdown menu. Click ‘OK’.

  12. Remove checks from ‘Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)’ and ‘File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks’. Hit ‘OK’.

  13. Double click on ‘Ivacy SSTP’ icon.Network Connection Windows Vista
  14. Type your ‘Username/Email’ and ‘Password’ in the respective fields provided. Check the ‘Save this username and password for the following user(s)’, checkbox. Select ‘Me only’ option. Click ‘Connect’.Windows Vista Connection Dialer
  15. From the ‘Select a location for Ivacy VPN network’, select ‘Public location’ option.Windows Vista Network Locations
  16. Click ‘Close’.

  17. You are now connected to Ivacy SSTP VPN. To check the status of the connection, click on the ‘Network’ icon on your system’s taskbar.

Installing IvacyVPN OpenVPN

  1. You download and install the IvacyVPN OpenVPN installer on your system. In order to download the OpenVPN installer, click here. (Click here to Download File).
    Let’s begin.
  2. Right click on ‘OpenVPN installer’ icon. Select ‘Open’ option. You can also double click on the icon to resume. In case a ‘User Account Control’ dialog box shows up, click on ‘Continue’ button to allow installation.1
  3. The ‘OpenVPN’ setup Wizard’ window will open up. Hit the ‘Next’ button.2 (1)
  4. The ‘License Agreement’ window will open up. Click on the ‘I Agree’ button.3 (1)
  5. The ‘Choose Components’ window will open up. Click on the ‘Next’ button.4 (1)
  6. Click on the ‘Install’ button to begin installation process.5 (1)
  7. Once the ‘installation process’ is complete, click on the ‘Next’ button.6-1-1
  8. Uncheck the ‘Show Readme’ checkbox. Hit the ‘Finish’ button.7 (1)

    Connect to Ivacy VPN OpenVPN

  9. Right click on ‘OpenVPN GUI’ icon. Select ‘Run as Administrator’ option. In case a ‘User Account Control’ dialog box opens up, hit the ‘Yes’ button.8 (1)
  10. Right click on the ‘OpenVPN’ icon from the system tray on the taskbar of your system. Select the ‘server’ that you want to use. Select the ‘Connect’ option.9 (1)
  11. Enter your ‘email’ and ‘password’ in the respective fields provided. Click on the ‘OK’ button.10 (1)
  12. Wait a few moments. The OpenVPN connection will be established soon. Enjoy privacy with Ivacy VPN.12 (1)

    Disconnect IvacyVPN OpenVPN

  13. To disconnect the ‘OpenVPN’ connection, simply go to ‘OpenVPN’ icon on the system tray and right click on it. Select the ‘connected server’. Select the ‘Disconnect’ option.15 (1)

    Save Account Details

  14. Navigate to ‘OpenVPN’ icon on the system tray and right click on it. Select the ‘desired server’ and select the ‘Edit Config’ option.16 (1)
  15. Type ‘pass.conf’ against the ‘auth-user-pass’ parameter. ‘Save’ the file.17 (1)
  16. Open ‘Notepad’ file. Save your ‘username / email’ and ‘password’. Save the file as ‘pass.conf’ in a folder.19 (1)
  17. Open the ‘folder’ where you have saved the ‘pass.conf’ file. Go to ‘Organize’ dropdown tab. Select ‘Folder and Search Options’.20 (1)
  18. A new window will open up. Go to ‘View’ tab. Uncheck the ‘Hide extensions for the known file types’ checkbox. Click on ‘Apply’ button. Now, click on ‘OK’ button.21 (1)
  19. Right click on ‘pass.conf.txt’ file and rename it. Remove ‘txt’ extension and hit the ‘Enter’ key. 22 (1)
  20. The ‘Rename’ dialog box will open up. Click on ‘Yes’ button.23 (1)
  21. Open the ‘OpenVPN installation folder’ (C:\Program Files\OpenVPN\config). Copy and paste the ‘pass.conf’ file into the the folder.26
  22. The ‘Destination Folder Access Denied’ dialog box will open up. Click the ‘Continue’ button to copy the file.25
  23. The ‘User Account Control’ dialog box will open up. Hit the ‘Continue’ button.27Your Account Details have now been saved.
    Repeat Step 14 and Step 15 to edit all the servers.
